CharlElie Couture
Very known for his music and for his painting, CharlElie Couture, born Bertrand Couture in 1956, is a French artist coming from Nancy. As he started to be attracted by art really young, he studied at the school of fine arts of his city in the 70's, where he got a deep sense of composition and learnt to build an authentic and unique work, very much contemporary. For more than 30 years, CharlElie followed a path he calls 'total art', which mean a global attitude consisting in finding interconnections between different forms of human expression such as writing, image and music. He belongs to the 'multist' wave of pluridisciplinary artists of whom he is a notorious reference. Sharing his life between his new-yorker gallery-workshop and Paris, as much as between his activity of singer-musician and plastician artist, his work (painting or photography) his inspired from the New-York scenery, this huge city with multiple facets where he still currently lives. Since 1976, he benefited from more than 150 soloshows in French, Belgian, Swiss, American galleries, as well as in more institutional places. He currently owns his gallery 'the Re Gallery' open in Manhattan since 2009.
